Become a volunteer

Our Volunteers are the friendly and welcoming face of Verona, custodians of the city, proud citizens of Verona Minor Hierusalem, image of commitment and participation.

They have an important task: they take care of the churches and welcome all visitors of the itinerary. They do not replace professional tour guides, but with their service, they offer both tourists and pilgrims the opportunity of visiting places rich in art, history and sacredness.

Each volunteer is required to work 8 hours per month, with two 4-hour shifts (approximately from 10 am to 2 pm, from 2 pm to 6 pm), on opening days (Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday). Each volunteer will be able to indicate their preferred day and time slot.

Getting to know each other. We ask prospective volunteers to apply via the online expression of interest form (on the left side of this page). They will then be invited to attend a volunteer information session with the project coordinator that includes an overview of the project and the volunteer program. They will also have an interview with the coordinator, who will then try to better maximise their skills and abilities. Applicants should attach their CV, or a personal presentation, to the application form, or bring it directly to the interview.

Training. Volunteers will receive training that prepares them to perform their work to the best of their abilities. The training includes both the historical-artistic aspect of the project and the history and characteristics of each church of the itinerary, and the relevant health and safety information. The training program is divided into different thematic modules in order to give new volunteers the opportunity to join the project at any time during the year. Further meetings on cultural topics related to the project will be organised during the year.
